Life tossed Dawn McGuinness more than the occasional lemon throughout her cystic fibrosis journey, but instead of being bitter, she always found great joy in life—and a cold glass of lemonade. Dawn embraced her life with cystic fibrosis; CF did not define her nor hold her back. She had a contagious smile and focused on the positives and life’s simple pleasures—the cup of tea shared with a friend, the funny Facebook post, the thoughtful greeting card, the unexpected visit, a walk with her husband Jimmy on the beach. It was the lemonade that made a difference in Dawn’s life.
Dawn considered herself blessed to spend her hospitalizations on the Dazian Floor at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City, which had special private rooms that looked more like hotel rooms than hospital rooms. Dawn always wished that her fellow CFers back in Albany could have similar rooms at Albany Medical Center. The Donna M. Crandall Foundation is trying to make Dawn’s wish come true.
In tribute to her gracious spirit and gentle heart, we are asking you to consider taking the Lemonade Challenge.
What is the Lemonade Challenge?

The challenge could also include hosting a lemonade stand. Contributions to the Lemonade Challenge will go toward renovations at Albany Medical Center to make “Dawn’s Rooms” a reality.
